Welcome to Anguilla! Experience the beauty and charm as you visit this unique Caribbean island. Anguilla is pronounced 'an-gwill-la' and is a hidden gem within the Caribbean Islands. People don't really hear much about Anguilla which makes it even more desirable for an island escape!Some Anguilla facts: Enjoy some of the finest white beaches and entertainment when visiting this unique 17 mile-long island. This island is a British overseas territory and there are approximately 13 thousand inhabitants. Anguilla's main airport (AXA) is called Wallblake Airport. Flights that service this airport hub are Liat, American Eagle, and Winair. Anguilla is a short one hour flight to Puerto Rico (SJU) and is easily accessible by all of the United States. There are ferry rides between Anguilla and Saint Martin and run about twenty five minutes. Culture and the People Influenced by the people of Africa and Great Britain, Aguilla boasts a West Indian influence and takes great pride in their boating and fishing community. The people enjoy boating and fishing as an island sport and encourage tourists to take part. The history of the island and its early Ameri-Indian settlers is extremely important to all those that reside on this beautiful isle. People that were born and raised in Anguilla are called Anguillans and everything that is referred to the island's features are called Anguillan. I.e Anguillan cuisine, Anguillan history.
